5 steps to being a good shadow!

When you decide on a career that you think you may want to pursue, it's always a good idea to shadow for a day or two. That way you get to see what a day in the life of your career would be like. It's a great learning experience and gives you some field experience.

Shadowing someone can be awkward and kind of intimidating. But they are there to help YOU! They want you to succeed.

Here are some tips on what you can do to make your shadowing experience gainful.

1. Ask questions!!! This may be an obvious one, but once you get there you may forget anything you wanted to ask.

2. Pay close attention to what they are saying! If you don't understand what they mean, ASK!

3. Wear proper work attire. If your going for dental or nursing, scrubs is appropriate. If you don't have any, causal business attire is acceptable. Do not wear jeans or shorts!! And no flip flops either!

4. Be close enought to see what's going on but don't be in the way.

5. Be excited! The more they see how interested and excited about it you are, the more they will engage with you and possibly let you try something.

There you have it, the 5 steps to being a good shadow. :)
